A site cannot launch when content is missing, even if design and development are complete. Instead of trying to perfect every sentence immediately, begin with a content inventory and clear owners.
Create a page-by-page content inventory
- 01Company introduction and key message
- 02Service titles, descriptions and key benefits
- 03Original logo files and brand colour information
- 04Team, office, product and project photography
- 05Phone, email, address and operating hours
- 06Privacy policy and required legal wording
Write from the visitor’s perspective
Focus on the questions customers ask and the outcomes they receive rather than internal terminology. Short sections with clear headings are easier to scan, particularly on mobile.
Agree on a file handover method
Use consistent names so final files are distinct from drafts, and keep everything in one shared location. Including the subject or intended page in image filenames reduces review time during production.
Content preparation is not something that follows design; it is part of defining the website structure.
